Visit Savannah President Joseph Marinelli appeared on Bill Edwards’ radio program on WTKS News Radio AM1290 on Friday, June 22. Marinelli addressed the issue of crime and how it impacts the work that Visit Savannah does, how he and the tourism leaders of Savannah interact with local law enforcement on events that come to town, and how important it is for local tourism and business leaders to establish and maintain productive relationships with civic and public safety leaders.
They also discussed the recent National Beta Club Convention, which was the largest convention in the city’s history, and which saw as many as 25,000 participants over a 10-day span in June. All reports from the convention organizers and local civic and business leaders are is that it was a hugely successful event, due in part to the coordination between the city, businesses and the convention staff. The Beta Convention is looking to return to Savannah at a future date. The program will run again on air over the coming week and will be available via streaming at newsradio1290wtks.iheart.com.
