This past week, Make-A-Wish Georgia granted wishes for two families visiting Savannah. The first wish was for Mason, a 12-year-old from Indiana battling Cystic Fibrosis. His wish is to be a marine biologist. He visited Savannah State University’s Marine Biology Department with his family for a full day of marine biology activities. He identified phytoplankton, named and mapped dolphins, identified microplastics in the sand, and fed jellyfish before going on a much-anticipated boat ride. He even got to drive the boat (under the supervision of the boat captain)!
The next wish granted was for Barrett, who wished to meet the Bananas. On Saturday, the Bananas gave Bear a full day of batting practice, playing catch, and fielding ground balls before he attended the game in the dugout with them. Barrett is 11 years old and has a genetic disorder. He and his family traveled to Savannah from Virginia. Barrett’s wish will be highlighted on ESPN’s SportsCenter the week of July 13th.
