Savannah’s educational landscape expanded, as Public Health 4 Kidz Science Center officially celebrated the grand opening of its new facility with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Located at 2309 Skidaway Road, Suite B, the center welcomed City of Savannah Mayor Van Johnson, families, educators, and community members to explore its innovative learning environment. The opening weekend featured a festive “Science-ween” celebration complete with self-guided tours, interactive games, prizes, and hands-on “Funny Bones” open science labs designed to spark curiosity and creativity. The new location provides a dedicated space where local youth can explore STEM concepts through creative, health-focused learning. Brewing Inclusive Opportunity: Java Joy Partners with Origin Coffee Bar

Downtown Savannah’s coffee scene celebrated a meaningful new partnership, as Java Joy by ESP Savannah officially marked its collaboration with Origin Coffee Bar. Located at 356 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., the host coffee shop welcomed community members, local business leaders, and supporters to “Joy Hours” from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. to highlight employment opportunities for adults with disabilities. Launched originally in Athens in 2016 and serving Savannah since 2025, Java Joy empowers its “Joyristas” to deliver coffee, connection, and unmatched enthusiasm throughout the region. This new collaboration with Origin Coffee Bar creates a dedicated base to help further the organization’s mission of inclusive workforce development. Fresh Gluten-Free Flavors in Starland: Maizal Celebrates Grand Opening

Savannah’s culinary scene expanded with a historic first as Maizal officially celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Located at 2018 Habersham St. at the corner of East 37th Street, Savannah’s first and only dedicated gluten-free Colombian café welcomed community leaders and food lovers to the heart of the Starland District. Owned and operated by Big Bon Bodega partners Kay Heritage and Shahin Afsharian, the concept was developed by Bogotá, Colombia native and chef Marisol Borrego. The vibrant Colombian café and event space features authentic arepas, Colombian-inspired bowls, handmade pastries, and locally roasted Colombian coffee. The Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce congratulates Maizal on its grand opening and warmly welcomes this inventive, community-focused eatery to the Starland corridor.
