Preserving Our Maritime Heritage: Friends of Cockspur Island Lighthouse Unveils New History
Our local history was brought into sharp focus this month as the Friends of Cockspur Island Lighthouse hosted a celebratory ribbon-cutting and book launch. The event, held at 3 Old US Hwy 80 on Tybee Island, marked the official release of the organization’s new publication, The Cockspur Island Lighthouse: A Witness to History, which offers a definitive look at one of the region’s most enduring maritime landmarks. To commemorate the launch, attendees enjoyed a unique celebration that blended local heritage with the scenic beauty of the coast. Ahead of the ribbon-cutting ceremony, guests boarded a special excursion with Captain Derek’s Dolphin Adventures, providing a perfect vantage point to appreciate the historic site that the organization works so tirelessly to protect. By documenting the narrative of the lighthouse, the Friends of Cockspur Island Lighthouse continue to ensure that the stories of our shoreline remain a vibrant part of the Lowcountry identity. The Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce commends the Friends of Cockspur Island Lighthouse for their dedication to historical stewardship and congratulates them on the successful launch of this vital resource for regional heritage and education.
Rising to the Occasion: Savannah Scone Company Expands to Congress Street
The local culinary scene just got a little sweeter as the Savannah Scone Company officially cut the ribbon on its second location. The new storefront, located at 31 W. Congress St., marks a significant milestone for a local business that began as a modest cottage bakery in 2019 before launching its first brick-and-mortar shop in 2021. To mark the grand opening, the team invited the community to celebrate not just the expansion, but also their commitment to the city. In a gesture of local partnership, the company designated a portion of the day’s proceeds to benefit Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia, reinforcing their mission that good food and community support go together. Known for their signature “scuffins,” artisanal bakes, and locally roasted coffee, the company’s expansion into the Historic District further cements their reputation as a go-to destination for Southern hospitality. The Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce congratulates the Savannah Scone Company on their successful growth and applauds their ongoing dedication to serving our community, one scone at a time.
Elevating Wellness: Savannah Breath Reset Brings Functional Science to Waters Avenue
Savannah’s wellness landscape expanded with a data-driven approach to personal and professional performance. Savannah Breath Reset officially opened the doors to its new location at 3301 Waters Ave., marking the arrival of a specialized, research-backed modality in the Lowcountry. Founded by certified Oxygen Advantage® instructor Chase Barber, the studio distinguishes itself from traditional meditation by focusing on functional breathwork designed to actively regulate the nervous system, improve sleep, and boost energy. The new Waters Avenue facility serves as a dedicated hub for Stress Reset classes, 6-week intensive programs, and 1:1 coaching. For the local business community, the practice offers a particularly timely resource: private group experiences tailored for corporate wellness teams looking to provide their employees with tangible tools for managing stress and enhancing cognitive performance in high-pressure environments. The Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce congratulates Savannah Breath Reset on their successful grand opening and welcomes this innovative approach to health and wellness to our city’s diverse professional corridor.
