First Day Homecare Launches Specialized Nursing Services in Savannah

A new level of specialized medical support arrived in the Lowcountry as First Day Homecare #024 celebrated its official ribbon cutting on Tuesday, Feb. 17. Located at 22 Park of Commerce Way, the ceremony marked the opening of the nation’s only franchised homecare agency specifically dedicated to Private Duty Nursing (PDN) and Personal Care Services (PCS). The Savannah team provides essential, high-acuity care for medically complex children and adults, including those requiring ventilator and tracheostomy support. By focusing on clinical excellence and a family-centered model, First Day Homecare offers a vital resource for families across Savannah and the surrounding counties who need reliable, home-based nursing. This expansion strengthens our local healthcare infrastructure and provides peace of mind for those managing the most challenging medical needs. Historic Carnegie Library Reopens as Heritage Center

A landmark of local history began its next chapter last week as Live Oak Public Libraries hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly restored Carnegie Library Heritage Center on Friday, Feb. 20. Located at 537 E. Henry St., the building—originally opened in 1914—was revitalized to serve as a beacon of community empowerment and historical preservation. Following extensive renovation, the Center now features museum-quality exhibits, interactive displays, and oral history recordings that celebrate its powerful legacy as one of the region’s first libraries for African American Savannahians. As one of 16 branches within the Live Oak Public Libraries system, the Heritage Center continues the system’s mission to inspire the community to grow and discover. This reopening ensures that the stories and triumphs of the past remain an accessible resource for every resident of the Lowcountry. The Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce congratulates Live Oak Public Libraries on this masterful restoration and celebrates the Carnegie Library Heritage Center’s enduring role in our city’s cultural landscape.
