Kilwins Brings Iconic Mackinac Island Fudge to Congress Street

Downtown Savannah became a little bit sweeter yesterday as Kilwins of Savannah celebrated the grand opening of its first local shop on Wednesday, Feb. 11. Located at 205 W. Congress St., the ribbon-cutting ceremony officially introduced the 75-year-old confectionery tradition to the Hostess City. New to the Savannah market, the owners invited the community to witness the theater of the kitchen, featuring live demonstrations of their signature Mackinac Island Fudge. Beyond the fudge paddle, guests sampled premium ice cream flavors ranging from Sea-Salt Caramel to the local favorite, Georgia Peach. More than just a dessert destination, Kilwins is committed to becoming a community staple by providing local employment and hosting educational school tours. The Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce congratulates Kilwins of Savannah on their grand opening and welcomes this “heritage of sweets” to the vibrant Congress Street business corridor.

Rhowe Design + Build Showcases Revitalized Starland Commercial Hub

The Starland District’s architectural landscape reached a new milestone as Rhowe Design + Build hosted an open house and ribbon cutting for the adaptive reuse of the historic C&S Upholstery Building. Located at the corner of Bull and West 42nd streets, the collaborative project transformed a former warehouse into a vibrant, multi-tenant commercial center. The revitalized space now serves as a blank canvas for Savannah’s entrepreneurial community, featuring five available tenant suites alongside new office and retail concepts. During the event, the Rhowe team was onsite with fellow Chamber member Hansen Architects and industry partners such as Benchmark Group and Vantosh Commercial Group, to discuss the customization potential of the remaining spaces, showcasing their commitment to blending Savannah’s historic charm with modern functionality. The Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce congratulates Rhowe Design + Build on the successful completion of this project and celebrates their continued contribution to the revitalization of the Starland district.

Live Oak Public Libraries will reopen the historic Carnegie Library on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 10:30 AM, following renovation and restoration. The Library, originally opened in 1914 with funding from local African American Savannahians and the Carnegie Corporation, is reopening under a new name, the Carnegie Library Heritage Center, to preserve and celebrate its powerful
legacy. Through museum-quality exhibits, oral history recordings and interactive displays, the Center will honor the library’s role as a beacon of knowledge and community empowerment. Including the Carnegie Library Heritage Center, the Live Oak Public Library system consists of sixteen branches in three counties.
