The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation held a statewide child care summit in Savannah last week, with attendees from every corner of Georgia.

The summit featured leaders from chambers of commerce, educational institutions, private child care providers, and other interested stakeholders.

“We were honored to host this summit to continue needed conversations around expanding child care slots for our working families,” Savannah Area Chamber President & CEO Bert Brantley said. “We were able to hear from both national and regional groups working on this issue, as well as some real-life examples across Georgia of public-private partnerships that we can learn from.”

In addition to the U.S. Chamber, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce supported the event, which included participation from Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning Commissioner Amy Jacobs. Savannah-area attendees included Chelsea Owens of Savannah Technical College, George Woods of the Chatham Education Alliance, Laukik Patel of Angel Learning Center, Susan Kraut of the Effingham Chamber, Jana Fox of The Learning Treehouse Preschool & Day Care, Ramona Underwood with the City of Rincon, and Paige Dickey with Effingham County Schools.
