Tybee Island has once again earned national recognition as a premier destination for family vacations, winning Best Family-Friendly Beach Town, Southern United States in the 2026 Wherever Awards for the second consecutive year.

Presented by WhereverFamily, a trusted online resource for family travel and part of the FXExpress Publications family, the annual awards recognize the best destinations, hotels, airlines, and travel providers serving families around the world.

Winners were selected by WhereverFamily readers, with voting conducted from September 2025 through April 2026. The publication provides daily travel inspiration and information covering family-friendly destinations, luxury and budget travel, travel tips, and experiences around the globe.

Tybee Island’s repeated recognition highlights the destination’s continued appeal to families seeking a welcoming coastal getaway. With its wide beaches, relaxed atmosphere, outdoor recreation, and easy access to Savannah, Tybee offers families opportunities to spend time together while enjoying an authentic island experience.

The ninth annual Wherever Awards winners were celebrated during an awards event at The Peninsula Chicago on August 3, and Visit Savannah’s Nora Gorman was on hand to accept the award on Visit Tybee’s behalf.
