SPLOST-Funded Early Childhood Learning Center Reaches Construction Milestone

City of Savannah and Chatham County officials came together on Monday, November 3, to celebrate a key milestone in the construction of the new Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC) with a ceremonial beam signing.

The event marked tangible progress on the innovative intergovernmental project, which is being funded through the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) 7 program. Once complete, the ECLC will provide critical educational resources and early learning opportunities for local families, underscoring the community’s shared commitment to investing in Savannah’s youngest residents.

Leaders from both the City and County emphasized that the project reflects the lasting impact of SPLOST funding in supporting quality-of-life improvements across Chatham County. Since its inception, SPLOST has helped deliver essential infrastructure, educational facilities, and public safety projects—many of which continue to benefit residents today.
