Visit Savannah’s sports sales team recently represented the Savannah Sports Council at the TEAMS Conference & Expo, the leading sports-event industry conference and trade show for destinations, rights holders, and event organizers. TEAMS—which stands for Travel, Events, and Management in Sports—brings together thousands of industry professionals each year to network, share insights, and explore partnership opportunities that drive sports tourism across the country.

Director of Sports Sales Karissa Pendleton and Sports Sales Manager Sarah Iocovozzi participated in more than 80 appointments with sports-rights holders and event planners, joining other destinations from across Georgia to highlight the state’s collective commitment to growing sports tourism. The team showcased Savannah’s world-class facilities, expanding infrastructure, and proven success in hosting major sporting events such as the Allstate SEC Women’s Volleyball Championship, NAIA Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse Championships, and the Publix Savannah Women’s Half Marathon & 5K.

Their participation underscored Savannah’s growing reputation as a premier host city for regional and national athletic events, with exciting opportunities on the horizon for continued expansion in the sports tourism market.
