After a long and productive week in Atlanta, the Savannah Area Chamber team has wrapped what is shaping up to be a record-setting Savannah Chatham Day at the State Capitol. Final participation numbers are still being calculated, but early indicators point to one of the initiative’s most successful events.
More than 120 legislators—representing over half of the entire Georgia General Assembly—attended this year’s gathering, reinforcing Savannah Chatham Day’s reputation as a “can’t miss” event during the legislative session. The event also attracted numerous statewide candidates, underscoring its growing importance as a key moment for engagement between Coastal Georgia leaders and decision-makers from across the state.
Media coverage was strong throughout the day from a variety of our region’s outlets, including WSAV, which broadcast live from the Georgia Freight Depot and captured interviews and updates from participants. The segments highlighted the region’s priorities and the strong presence of Savannah and Chatham County leaders. Check out the coverage HERE.
On Thursday, one day after our gathering at the State Capitol, the House passed the Amended Fiscal Year 2026 budget with all of the Chamber’s priorities intact. Other items on the Chamber’s legislative agenda are just now gaining momentum, so while it is still early in the session, the next few weeks will move quickly, with a big deadline, Crossover Day, looming on March 6.
The Chamber extends its appreciation to all of our members who traveled to Atlanta to help advocate on behalf of Coastal Georgia. Together, the collective effort continues to elevate Savannah’s voice at the State Capitol and strengthen the region’s influence across Georgia.
