Savannah Area Chamber Unveils 2027 Local Public Policy Agenda

The Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce has announced its 2027 Local Public Policy Agenda, outlining key policy priorities the organization will advocate for with the City of Savannah, Chatham County, and other local governments in the coming year.

Developed through feedback from Chamber members and finalized by the Chamber’s volunteer-led committees, the annual agenda reflects the needs of Savannah’s business community and identifies opportunities for local government and business leaders to work together to strengthen the region’s economy, improve public safety, and address workforce challenges.

“Our approach to public policy begins with a simple question: Will this help Savannah and Chatham County remain a competitive place to do business, create jobs, and invest in our community?” said Bert Brantley, President and CEO of the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce.

“Our members understand that a strong business climate and a thriving community go hand in hand. We want to work collaboratively with our local elected officials to advance practical, pro-business policies that encourage responsible growth, strengthen our workforce and improve quality of life for everyone who lives and works here.”

2027 Local Public Policy Priorities

The Chamber’s 2027 Local Public Policy Agenda focuses on five key areas: responsible development, reducing burdensome regulations, public safety, workforce and education, and infrastructure improvements.

Priorities include encouraging business investment and economic growth, streamlining permitting processes, strengthening public safety by increasing law enforcement staffing and coordinating homelessness prevention efforts, and expanding early childhood education and literacy initiatives to build a stronger future workforce.

The agenda also advocates reliable countywide public transportation, improved roads and stormwater infrastructure, and responsible government spending.

Together, these priorities reflect the Chamber’s commitment to advancing practical, pro-business policies that strengthen Savannah and Chatham County’s economy, improve quality of life and support long-term regional prosperity.

A Collaborative Approach to Local Policy

The Chamber’s Local Public Policy Agenda serves as a framework for ongoing engagement with elected officials, government administrators and community partners throughout 2027. By incorporating input from businesses of varying sizes and industries, the Chamber seeks to ensure that local policy discussions reflect the practical challenges and opportunities facing employers across Savannah and Chatham County.

“Our goal is to be a constructive partner in shaping the decisions that affect our community’s future,” Brantley added. “When government and business work together, we can find solutions that protect public safety, expand economic opportunity, and keep our region moving forward.”

The Savannah Area Chamber will continue working with local government leaders throughout 2027 to advocate for these priorities and encourage policies that support a strong, competitive, and prosperous business community.
