Last year’s Note to Self, led by Dr. Joe Buck, became one of the most memorable evenings in Leadership Savannah’s Graduate Series. Through deeply personal letters to their younger selves, alumni shared stories of triumph, regret, resilience and hope—reminding us that leadership is shaped not only by accomplishment, but also by reflection.
This year, Note to Self, Part II turns the conversation toward the future, and tickets are on sale now.
On Thursday, Sept. 17, from 4–7 p.m. at the Charles H. Morris Center, 10 E. Broad St., Leadership Savannah graduates will explore the moments we all eventually face, but rarely prepare for: grief, defeat, victory, change and the realization that our time is finite.
Guided once again by Dr. Joe Buck, three Leadership Savannah graduates will share personal “Notes to Self” written for those defining moments.
- Cecilia Arango, principal and marketing director at Thomas & Hutton, will bring the perspective of a respected business and community leader whose career has been shaped by relationships, collaboration and service.
- The Honorable Christopher Middleton, Superior Court judge for the Eastern Judicial Circuit, will share insights from a career in public service and the responsibility of making consequential decisions when the stakes are highest.
- Jamey Espina, chief development officer of Hospice Savannah, will offer the perspective of a seasoned nonprofit leader whose work is rooted in compassion, philanthropy and community. Throughout his career, Espina has built meaningful partnerships and advanced programs that support individuals and families during some of life’s most profound moments.
At the heart of the evening is one simple question: What would you want yourself to remember when life is at its most difficult—or its most meaningful?
The program will connect timeless leadership principles with the deeply human experiences every leader encounters, offering a reminder that authentic leadership is not about having all the answers. It is about showing up with courage, humility and purpose.
As with last year’s program, attendees will also become part of the experience by writing their own Note to Self—a personal message intended for a future moment they know may someday come.
The program is open exclusively to Leadership Savannah members, and registration is $75 per person. For more information, email Jennifer Davenport at jd********@*************er.com or call 912-507-1589.
