The Leadership Savannah Graduate Series launched this week with a powerful evening of insight and connection at The Clyde Venue. The event began with the United Way of the Coastal Empire presenting its newly released 2025 ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) data, offering a deeper look at the economic realities many working families in our region face. Attendees then participated in an interactive poverty simulation, gaining firsthand perspective on the barriers and trade-offs many in our community navigate every day.
Following the program, guests enjoyed a cocktail hour welcoming two distinguished new leaders to Savannah: Retired Chief Justice Michael Boggs, now a Partner at Hunter Maclean, and Dr. Jermaine Whirl, the new President of Savannah State University.
The next event in the series is set for Tuesday, September 17, and will feature a dynamic “Note to Self” panel moderated by Dr. Joe Buck. The panel will include Don Waters, Pastor Charles Roberson, Mayor Pro Tempore Gabrielle Nelson, and Susan Hancock, each sharing reflections and advice they’d give to their younger selves. Tickets are available now.
Leadership Savannah alumni are also encouraged to join the Leadership Savannah Legacy League, a new program offering access to all three Graduate Series events plus a commemorative lapel pin. Members of the Legacy League will be honored at a future event as part of our ongoing celebration of leadership in action.
