Hire a Summer 500 High School Student. Shape Savannah’s Future

The Summer 500 Program returns for 2026—bringing together the City of Savannah, Chatham County, Savannah-Chatham County Public School System, the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce, and the local business community to create meaningful, paid work opportunities for local high school students.

Relaunched under the leadership of Alderwoman Carol Bell, the program aims to place up to 500 high school juniors and seniors in four- to six-week internships beginning May 27, 2026.

At its core, Summer 500 is about connection—linking classroom learning to real-world experience while helping businesses meet immediate workforce needs.

Why Participate?
Summer 500 is more than a summer jobs program—it’s a smart investment in your business and in Savannah’s future workforce.

  • Build your talent pipeline with future employees
  • Gain extra support during the busy summer months
  • Bring fresh perspectives into your workplace
  • Strengthen community connections and mentorship opportunities

Students benefit from hands-on experience, professional skill-building, and career exposure—while your business gains motivated, eager team members ready to contribute from day one.

We Need Your Business at the Table
Make a commitment today to host at least one high school student this summer. Your participation helps shape the next generation of Savannah’s workforce while delivering real value to your organization.

Not Able to Host a Student? You Can Still Help.
Support the program by sponsoring a student to work at a local nonprofit—an equally impactful way to invest in our community and expand opportunities for young people. For more information on sponsoring a high school student, contact Erica Backus at the Chamber.
