NEWS
As the partial federal government shutdown continues, many of the individuals who keep Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport operating each day safely are working without pay.
Federal employees, including TSA officers, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents, and FAA air traffic controllers, continue reporting to work to protect travelers and maintain the safe flow of air traffic.
These dedicated professionals are essential to our region’s connectivity, tourism industry, and economic vitality. Now, our community has an opportunity to support them.
The Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce and the Savannah Economic Development Authority, in partnership with the United Way of the Coastal Empire, are working to assist impacted federal workers through a gift card assistance program.
Donations will provide digital gift cards to eligible airport employees to help offset everyday expenses during the shutdown.
Recipients will be able to select from retailers, including:
- Walmart
- Chevron/Texaco
- Kroger
- Publix
- Shell Gas Station
Your contribution—large or small—can provide immediate relief to members of our airport community who continue to serve without pay.
