GDOT Commissioner Visits Savannah to Discuss Freight and Transportation Needs

GDOT Commissioner Russell McMurry visited Savannah to discuss the Coastal Empire Freight and Transportation Plan released earlier this year. Elected officials from several municipalities and those from a four-county region attended alongside Chamber staff. In conjunction with the Georgia Port Authority and critical industries, the freight plan examines ways that cargo could flow from the Port’s terminals throughout the state. It also examines how other sectors, such as agriculture and e-commerce, facilitate business.

For daily commuters, the report concludes that if no improvements are made to the region’s traffic infrastructure by 2050, the commute times for almost all in our area will double.
