Georgia Lawyers for the Rule of Law and Congregation Mickve Israel invite the public to attend a luncheon program featuring Jill Steinberg, former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia, on Saturday, June 6, at Congregation Mickve Israel in Savannah.
Steinberg will present “The Rule of Law Through a Jewish Lens,” focusing on the meaning of the rule of law, the principles behind it and its importance in everyday life. Her remarks will also explore the connections among the rule of law, protections for minority communities, Judaism and Jewish history.
Appointed U.S. Attorney in 2023, Steinberg served for two years as the federal government’s top prosecutor and legal officer in South Georgia. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia and earned her law degree from Duke University.
The luncheon program begins at 12:15 p.m. in Mickve Israel’s Mordecai Sheftall Social Hall, following the Sabbath service at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary. The public is welcome to attend the service, the luncheon or both. Registration is required for the luncheon.
