Chamber Team Tours U.S. Coast Guard’s “America’s Tall Ship” in Savannah

Members of the Savannah Area Chamber team had the special opportunity to experience firsthand the majesty of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Barque Eagle during its recent stop along Savannah’s Waterfront.

Known as “America’s Tall Ship,” the Barque Eagle is a 295-foot, three-masted sailing vessel used to train future U.S. Coast Guard officers. The ship features 23 sails, more than six miles of rigging, and serves as a floating classroom for cadets learning leadership, teamwork, navigation, and seamanship.

While docked in Savannah last week, the Chamber team received a special tour of the historic ship, gaining a closer look at its impressive craftsmanship, rich maritime history, and important role in preparing the next generation of Coast Guard leaders. The visit was a memorable reminder of Savannah’s deep connection to the water and the continued importance of maritime service, history, and tradition in our community.
