Chamber Hosts Annual Veterans Day Salute Honoring Coastal Georgia’s Military Community

The Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce held its annual Veterans Day Salute last week, bringing together business leaders, community partners, and residents to honor the service and sacrifice of active-duty military personnel, veterans, and retirees across Coastal Georgia.

More than 250 attendees gathered to recognize the men and women who serve our nation and to hear an update on regional military initiatives, readiness efforts, and future priorities.

The keynote address was delivered by Major General Konata “Deuce” Crumbly, Commanding General of the Georgia Air National Guard, a role he assumed in February 2023. Major General Crumbly is responsible for more than 2,900 Airmen and civilians across six locations statewide and also serves as the Air National Guard Assistant to the Commander of the United States Transportation Command.

During his remarks, he shared insights on current missions, future opportunities, and the continued importance of strong partnerships between the military and the local business community.

His comments underscored the significant economic and community impact of military installations in Coastal Georgia, as well as the vital role service members and their families play in the region.

The Savannah region is home to more than 20,000 service members, whose presence contributes over $4.9 billion annually to the local economy. The Chamber continues to encourage businesses throughout the region to support military families, show appreciation for those who serve, and strengthen the longstanding partnership between Savannah’s business community and the armed forces.

The event also served as a meaningful opportunity for the Chamber to reaffirm its commitment to military affairs advocacy, policies that strengthen the region’s defense presence, and initiatives that honor those who have dedicated their lives to service.

The Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce extends its sincere gratitude to all veterans, active-duty service members, event sponsors, and community partners who helped make this year’s Veterans Day Salute a success.
