Ribbon Cutting for Carnegie Library Heritage Center
Live Oak Public Libraries will reopen the historic Carnegie Library on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 10:30 AM, following renovation and restoration. The Library, originally opened in 1914 with funding from local African American Savannahians and the Carnegie Corporation, is reopening under a new name, the Carnegie Library Heritage Center, to preserve and celebrate its powerful legacy. Through museum-quality exhibits, oral history recordings and interactive displays, the Center will honor the library’s role as a beacon of knowledge and community empowerment. Including the Carnegie Library Heritage Center, the Live Oak Public Library system consists of sixteen branches in three counties. Its mission is to Inspire the Community to Grow, Create, Discover and Explore. All LOPL programs and services are free and open to the public. https://liveoakpl.org/about/CLHC
