About
Veterans Council of Chatham County is a nonprofit umbrella organization that brings together multiple veterans service organizations across Savannah and Chatham County to coordinate advocacy, community support, and commemorative events for local veterans. The Council serves as a central coordinating body for approximately two dozen veterans organizations, helping align efforts related to veteran services, outreach, and community engagement. One of its most visible roles is organizing and funding Savannah's annual Veterans Day Parade, a long-standing city tradition honoring military service members and veterans in the region.
In addition to event coordination, the organization supports memorial initiatives, including contributions to the Savannah WWII Memorial walkway and other veteran recognition projects along River Street. It also provides a forum for member organizations to collaborate, share resources, and advocate for issues affecting veterans in Coastal Georgia.
The Council operates as a 501(c)(19) veterans organization and functions as a clearinghouse for veteran-related activities, meetings, and community programs throughout the region.
