Savannah will come together on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, for the First Annual Chatham Literacy Summit, a community-wide gathering focused on improving literacy outcomes for every child in Chatham County.
Hosted by the Chatham Literacy Moonshot, the free summit will bring together education leaders, business owners, community partners, and residents for a morning of data, discussion, and action.
Attendees will hear national and local perspectives on literacy transformation, early brain development, and proven strategies for reaching the Moonshot’s “95 in 5” goal. The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System will also provide an update on its Unlimited Possibilities strategic plan and roadmap to have 95% of third graders reading on grade level by 2031.
The program will also feature updates from the Moonshot’s five Lines of Effort — Early Learning, Direct Instruction, Family Support, Education Workforce, and Community Culture — along with the public unveiling of the Chatham Literacy Moonshot community campaign.
The summit begins at 8:30 a.m. at the King Frazier Student Center, with coffee available beginning at 8 a.m.
