Future Leaders from Catawba College Explored Innovation and Resilience in Savannah

The Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce recently welcomed students from Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina, for a discussion on what makes Savannah a model for innovation and resilience in today’s economy.

The session featured remarks from Nick Palumbo and Jennifer Davenport, Vice President of Community Affairs and In-House Counsel for the Chamber, offering insight into how Savannah continues to evolve while staying rooted in its rich history. From forward-thinking policies to a collaborative business environment, the conversation highlighted how the community adapts and thrives.

Students were especially interested to learn that Savannah was among the first cities in the nation to adopt a tree ordinance—an early example of its long-standing commitment to thoughtful planning and sustainability. That same mindset continues today, with a strong economy supported by diverse industries and a growing entrepreneurial sector.

The discussion also emphasized resilience—how Savannah has navigated challenges, embraced change, and leveraged partnerships to emerge stronger.
