Community in Action: Chamber Volunteers Support Habitat Build

In November, the Savannah Area Chamber hosted its second Chamber Volunteer Day of 2025, bringing together more than 20 dedicated members to make a lasting impact in our community. Partnering with Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity, volunteers worked alongside the Chamber membership team and Habitat CEO and Chamber Board member, Zerik Samples, to help build a home in the Summerside neighborhood.

Throughout the day, members rolled up their sleeves to weatherproof the home’s exterior and construct a backyard shed frame, laying the foundation for a brighter future. When complete, this home will provide stability for a local low-income family—but Habitat’s model goes far beyond gifting homes. Future homeowners become true partners, investing 300–350+ hours of “sweat equity” by working on their own home and other projects, attending classes, and volunteering at Habitat ReStores. Thanks to this partnership approach, along with donated materials and volunteer labor, Habitat can offer families homes with affordable mortgages, creating opportunity and empowerment.

We are proud of our members for embodying the Chamber’s commitment to the community. Join us for Chamber Volunteer Days in 2026 and be part of the difference!
