Healthy Savannah Reminds Community August is National Breastfeeding Awareness Month

August is National Breastfeeding Awareness Month—a perfect moment for Savannah businesses to champion nursing families and advocate for policies that make breastfeeding and pumping easier both on the job and in public.

Healthy Savannah encourages all employers—even those with fewer than 50 employees not covered by the 2022 PUMP Act—to voluntarily provide a private, non-bathroom space and reasonable break time for breastfeeding or expressing milk.

Thanks to the PUMP Act, larger employers are now legally required to accommodate nursing employees, safeguarding the health of mothers and their children while strengthening our workforce.

Businesses that offer these welcoming spaces can display a “Breastfeeding Welcome” decal, provided at no cost through Healthy Savannah’s REACH grant in partnership with the YMCA.

To request your decal or learn how to participate, please scan the QR code below or contact Healthy Savannah directly.
