November 7, 2012 SAVANNAH, GA -- Visit Savannah is pleased to announce that the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) will return to Savannah for their 2014 - 2017 conventions, and they will be using the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center.

"We are particularly proud of the news that ACCG will be staying in Savannah," said Visit Savannah President Joseph Marinelli. "This truly was a city-wide effort to develop a hotel and convention center package that will keep them coming back for many years to come."

ACCG has been coming to Savannah off and on for many years, but due to declining conditions at the Savannah Civic Center, was considering Jekyll Island’s recently opened convention center for its 2014 event. Savannah officials were able to negotiate a multi-year contract with ACCG, during which the group will celebrate its centennial year.

"We are pleased to welcome ACCG to the Center in 2014," said Bob Coffey, general manager at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center. "Savannah’s been proud to host the commissioners for many years; and we’ll do our best to return their confidence.

"With the Center’s extensive meeting spaces, ACCG members will enjoy more flexibility, and their trade show will have the opportunity to grow and bring even more happy participants to Savannah."

The 2013 ACCG convention will, as contracted, be at the Savannah Civic Center in 2013, but the group will move to the Trade Center in 2014. There will be 1,150 attending and 3,174 room nights booked for the convention.

"ACCG is pleased to make this commitment to continue to bring our annual conference to Chatham County," said Ross King, executive director of ACCG. "Our members and their families enjoy vibrancy and history of the downtown area, and we think that the move to the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center is ideal for us at this time."
