Thomas & Hutton
Sam McCachern began his career with Thomas & Hutton in 1985 upon graduating from North Carolina State university with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He served in most engineering and management capacities at the firm. His engineering roles included design engineer for projects on Daufuskie Island, project manager for Sun City Hilton Head, and client manager for Crescent Resources and the Branigar Organization. Sam’s management roles include all of the corporate positions, including his current role as President and CEO. He is also a member of the board of directors.
Sam is responsible for the company’s strategic plan, which has led to the company’s expansion to columbia, greenville, and charlotte. The firm maintains a high level of state-of-the-art technology for production, communication, and innovation. As a learning organization, thomas & hutton invests in extensive training for its employees.
Sam is not only a leader for Thomas & Hutton, but also a good steward to his community. He serves organizations such as Isle of Hope United Methodist Church, Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce, Savannah Rotary Club of Savannah, College of Engineering Foundation, Savannah Technical College Foundation, NCSU College of Engineering Foundation Advisory Board, Georgia Southern Ceit Corporate Advisory Board, and 2013 united way of the Coastal Empire Campaign Chair. He is a Leadership Savannah graduate – class of 1992-1994.
He has one son, who is a college junior.
